1980’s New York hardcore. As fellow travelers Urban Waste dissolved
following the release of their now classic EP, three quarters of that
band, including original UW singer Billy Phillips, teamed up with other
local hoods to form Major Conflict, then a veritable supergroup of NYHC.
Destined to have become a classic were it not for the whirlwind speed
with which they burst on the scene and left it, this record gives a detailed
retrospective of Queens-style hardcore, and includes the band’s
unreleased studio recording featuring Kraut’s Johnny Feedback on

of the original "NY Thrash" bands, the Misguided, along with
HEARTATTACK, THE FALSE PROPHETS, and THE MOB, were amongst the first generation
of NY hardcore. This retrospective of studio, demo, and live material
bears witness to that exciting, restless, and sometimes awkward time after
the punk explosion in NY when kids forged their own sound with only the
"loud, fast rules!" ethic as their blueprint. Refreshingly absent
is the metal crunch that characterized later generations of NYHC. Influenced
by the Dead Boys or the Jam, the Misguided took some cues from the DC
bands of the time, stripped that sound down to its elements and injected
it with a momentum and vigor almost bursting at the seams. Many people
the world over front on that NYHC '81 sound; listen here for yourself.

is an obvious death metal influence here. The vocals range from piercing
high screeches, to low Mesrine-esque growls, along with layered and call
and answer dual vocal sections. There is a noticeable melody and structure
to Nashgul’s songs, which gives them an appeal to lovers of grind
and death metal across the board. One of the best parts of this album
is that it is a compilation of 7”s, unreleased tracks, and a split.
This lets you hear the progression of Nashgul’s sound without having
to keep switching records. If you like death metal and you like grind,
buy this album and get blown away. 31 tracks, combining the best elements

with what sounds like a little distortion on them. S.O.L. comes out of
