FESTA DESPERATO waited three long years for their debut vinyl and the wait was definitely worth it! “New Babylon” brings eight hits, seven of which are their own creations that kill from start to finish! Don’t expect a dozen rock’n’roll crusts or overly sweet singles ala FROM ASHES RISE, this is a total massage with a two-guitar wall of noise, jackhammer-like drums and an afterlife, slightly drowned vocal. Obvious inspiration from old Scandinavian clubs of the 80s, Japanese raw punk (FRAMTID!) and a bit of Portland is there too, but only lightly. And the eighth track is a cover of DISCLOSE. A separate chapter in FESTA DESPERATO are the lyrics (of course in Czech) faithfully depicting joyless visions of the present and the future, and when it comes to the album cover, the band also took great care in that (especially the collage of musicians playing in the bombed-out ruins of the city is worth it!). All in all, it’s great to be a label involved in an album that doesn’t have a single flaw.
