FAMINE YEAR / HAUTAUS – Split – 7″ (Self Released)

Famine Year, a Helsinki-based band that plays crust punk spiced with grind, has put together a seven-track set with Hautaus, a band that ranges from dragging gloom to furious screamed vocals, for whom this set is their first release. Famine Year can fit a total of four apocalyptic outbursts, although the RPM is a faster 45, while Hautaus relies on a 33 and a single, albeit complex track. Rage, uncompromising and dark rigor seem to be at the heart of Famine Year. Hautaus: the gloomy drag rises sharply to piercing screamed outbursts in the same apocalyptic mood as Famine Year. In that sense, the bands play well on both sides.
