AGRIMONIA - Host of the winged 2xLP
The wait was long, but now it´s ready! A dignified follow-up of their first album! An intense Dolp from this dark crust band from Gothenburg. I haven´t really enough words to describe this brutal yet twisted attack on my eardrums. Eight songs in just over 72 minutes(!) of death and blackmetal gloom with a healthy dose of crust punk influences leaving me speechless. The Double Lp comes in a beautiful gatefold with a foldout insert. CD version is being released in US by Profane Existence and should be available in the next update here as well. If you have the chance to see them on their US-West coast tour go ahead!!
AGRIMONIA - s/t LP
As Kleister wrote: " ...Their "demo" cd hit me by surprise and I really couldn´t refuse to put this out! These folks come from Gothenburg in lovely Sweden and deliver the goods! The demo (minus 1 song though) that you´ll find on this black piece of vinyl hold 4 times thundering death and black metal soaked doom, with hints of crust, as well as atmospheric and epic darkness. The guitars range from devastating heaviness to gloomy acoustic sections, with piercing leads that flash through the darkness every now and then. If you´ve ever wanted to know exactly how your favourite metal, crust, and doom bands would have sounded like if they were one band this is where you should turn. I won´t namedrop anything, just ask you to take me on my word that you really need to check this out if you´ve been even the slightest intrigued with what´s written above. Even though I could drop many influential names, as well as list several of your favourite Swedish crustcore bands in the "members of" department. First 1100 copies comes in a nicely done gatefold...." - i simply cannot say it better! This is by far one of the best and most grabbing releases i heard this year and it will be hard for everyone to top this for me.
ANTIDOTUM - Testowane na ludziach LP
Hailing from Warsaw, and picking up where Post Regiment threw the towel - no personal links apart from being friends, but if you listen to their music you hear the same passion and energy that Post Regiment built their songs on. Powerful, melodic punk with a female singer, but way more aggressive than the beforementioned. Old Armia stuff would be a good reference as well - and if you put the namedropping aside this is a proof of ongoing good tradition of polish HC-punk over the last decades!.
ANTIPRODUCT - The deafening silence of grinding gears LP
After two outstanding 7", they finally got their shit together to record this awesome piece of vinyl. 8 songs of powerful, raging Anarcho-Punk with Emo-HC influences & female / male vocals - the galloping basic Punk-Rock aspect in their music is gone. The production is heavy & way better than their previous efforts. Included is a 16-pages A4-sized booklet with very thoughtful analytical, political but still personal lyrix and explanations + 2 posters.
AUS ROTTEN - The rotten agenda LP
At last, the third (and sadly final) full lengthfrom Aus-Rotten, who have made quite an outstanding and long-lasting impact on the American anarcho-punk scene over the past decade, and will continue to do so even after their recent breakup. On the new LP, they continue the male / female vocals style as began when Adrienne joined them for their previous LP, but this time the two vocalist due a much more intense job working in unison, with several layers of vocals going at once, just like in classic Conflict days. The music is flat out powerful punk rock, but is way more energetic and gutsy than they last LP ("See what happens when you get a decent drummer" as one fellow PE member put it). The lyrics are 100% political, relevant, and angry as fuck. The packaging is, of course, of the fold-out Crass-style poster sleeve with lyrics and art (Skuld version has a normal sleeve with slightly different artwork & the posters included - like on the last LP), but there is a second poster included, presumable for hanging on the wal. While I´m incredibly impressed by the effort and energy that went into this record, I am equally sadden that they will no longer be with us. PE #39
CONTRAVENE - A call for action LP
European pressing of this raging @-punk release that was put out on Tribal War Records early last year. Eric and Shelly from Catchphraze Records are among the members of Contravene, an action minded anarcho-punk band from Arizona. Powerful and slightly metaltinged music back up a female vocal charged assault with angry and well-written political lyrics. Mostly fast and upbeat but they´re also not afraid to put in more melodic and calm parts That reminds me often of bands like Nausea on one, and early Chumbawamba on the other end. They do a great cover of One by One´s "Common Ground" from the "In the Spirit of Total Resistance" comp.
COUNTDOWN TO ARMAGEDDON - Through the wires LP
This is the second full-length release from COUNTDOWN TO ARMAGEDDON, a 3-piece based in Seattle, WA whose sound originated in apocalyptic crust and inevitably progressed into more melodic, post-punk territories over the past eight years of their tenure. Thick layers of reverb and chorus-effected darkwave riffs, sometimes reminiscent of early KILLING JOKE or CHRISTIAN DEATH, weave in and out of the lines between punk, hardcore, and d-beat crust, while retaining a unique identity in each of the eight tracks on the album.
CRESS - The greed Machine and the Money Tree 2xLP
This Dolp features all the releases that CRESS has done in the past couple of years. The "Monuments" LP, their side of the split 10" with Doom + the "From Violence To Consumerism" 7" + 20 something minutes of unreleased songs! - - Soundwise you have to take the infamous old-school anarcho-punk 1-2-1-2 drum tempo and chanted hard-hitting slogans and fuse it to the modern D.I.Y. punk sound (metal Èinnit?) and you have Cress - Slow, heavy and menacing mayhem riding along the lines of ANTISECT, FLUX OF PINK INDIANS with a punch of KILLING JOKE, dark tripped-out sound effects and keyboard, loads of anger aimed at the desecrators of our earth. Punk! Lyrics that are trully heartfelt and well thought out, straightforward and sincere, I can feel the compassion and conviction of the punk community when I hear these songs. This is the kind of stuff that keeps me going! Comes with poster and lyric booklet with lots of graphics!!
CROSS STITCHED EYES - Decomposition LP
Skuld Releases is pleased to release Decomposition, the second full length by US/UK/German based collective Cross Stitched Eyes. Cross Stitched Eyes deep and abstract sounds are works of pummeling sonics. Following in the tradition of anarchist punk and death rock (Rudimentary Peni, Cortex, and Killing Joke), the album's noises embrace the many irrational and visceral shades of music's darkest corners. Decomposition decidedly rejects traditional copy-and-paste guidelines of musical conformity with a puncturing attitude. The harsher side of CSE's musical work relates to underground art forms because of its close association of the band's artistic influences and it's deconstructed presentation as a whole. Decomposition's leadoff track "We Follow" evokes reactions to seemingly (un)changing lifestyles and vitriolic diatribes. Other songs like "Animated Corpse" and "Scars Of Past" contain a lyrical depth seldom heard these days. At times benign, at others aggressive, Cross Stitched Eyes demonstrate the complicated relationship between dark and light that artists continue to examine. Repeated spins of Decomposition are unavoidable. Cross Stitched Eyes features members of Zygote, Alaric, U.K.Subs, Smart Pills, Anger Of Bacteria and Endrophobia. Don't judge them by their other activities because they all bring a special component to this multi-national collective. Tim Shapland has produced all of band's recordings with a technique that captures the urgency of their sound. Jason Willer drives the beat and his vocals shape the songs, leading with the direction of an intuitive scavenger on the hunt. Steve Daniel anchors the low-end rhythmic components with an industrious attitude that is uniquely his own. Together as Cross Stitched Eyes, they have created an infectious LP that will capture and enrapture.
CWILL - Trotz allem! LP
Cwill´s now 5th release since 1994. You couldn´t say that they rush things. But it was worth waiting for their best effort so far. (what else should I say :) ) Brutal and melodic hc/crust/punk from Switzerland. 9 "new" songs showing again how amazing this band got over the years. Harsh and aggressive vocals over a thick and heavy wall of sound where the melodic violin fits in perfectly. Sweeping music with an eerie athmosphere and desperate well written lyrix that are more of a personal approach to political topics in a nicely put together sleeve.
DETESTATION - s/t LP
classic first LP by these original portland punk band from 97! the haunting raspy female vocals made these folx unique!!!
DIRT - Black & White 2xLP
2xLP!! I think there's really no introduction necessary about this classic anarcho punk band from London!!! On the Do-Lp are their sold out records (Object, Refuse, Reject, Abuse 7", Never Mind Dirt Here's The Bollocks 12", Just An Error Lp + their never released 2nd 7" & their demo).
DYSTOPIA - s/t LP
at long last, the final Dystopia full length will see the light of day! This record contains 6 new tracks, plus a cover of an unreleased song by Dino´s old band CARCINOGEN. Recorded at Tim Green´s LOUDER STUDIOS during various sessions between 2004-2005, this record is the last chapter of Dystopia´s existence writing bleak and heavy doom ridden punk. Crazy shit as we know them for! Comes with a 20 pages fullcolour booklet with lots of collages
FLEAS AND LICE - Global destruction LP
Re-release with bonustracks! Compiled on here are the MLP + the 3 tracks of the same session that where previously released on the split 7" with Assrash. Six (nine!) of their best tracks yet recorded are delivered in a hail of anger and rage on their newest release in the form of a 12"MLP. Angry female/male vocals over a sing-along style of punk/crust.
FLEAS AND LICE - Recipes for catastrophies LP
After some years of silence Fleas And Lice are back with a bang & went once more time into the studio to record, after countless split projects and an amazing mini album, their first full lenghth album. 12 songs of relentless, energetic and powerful crusty HC-Punk with femal / male trade off shouted vocals. Although the music has a slight metal-edge it's always delivered in a catchy sing-along style. Being as always full of anger and rage the lyrix deal with the everyday madness in this fucked up system on a collapsing world.
FLEAS AND LICE - Prepare for armageddon LP
Holland infamous drunken squatter Punx are back with their first new release in over four years! By far the bands best work to date with 11 new songs of brutal hardcore punk with dual fe/male vocals.
FLEAS AND LICE / BLEEDING RECTUM - split LP
Actually this one is pretty rare. Second vinyl offering by Fleas and Lice (those infamous dutch squatter punks) and Bleeding Rectum (from Belfast ex-Toxic Waste)...A solid statement for early ninties DIY Punk and should be in everyones record collection.
FROM ASHES RISE - Silence LP
This is after their "Concrete & Steel" Lp (later out on Skuld as well) half a year ago their second big piece of vinyl. From Ashes Rise are in the same vein as His Hero Is Gone and Tragedy, and anyone who likes those bands will be blown away by the awesome assault of these smoldering hardcore songs. The sound is powerful and harsh, but with a very good sense of hidden melody and catchy riffs & it is even more brutal & "melodic", but also more complex than their earlier stuff. The vocals are strained and desperate, with the overall feel being dark and depressing. Fantastic
FROM ASHES RISE - s/t LP
When I first reviewed the F.A.R. CD I was sort of dissappointed cos I knew there was no way I would review anything that cool again but... Here it is - the first LP and the 2nd 7" all on one piece of vinyl. So not only do you have one of the best bands to come out of the US for years, it´s now on the large format. Musically complex, rythmical hardcore in a HHIG, Tradgedy vein. Lyrically dark and depressing. All in all my favourite piece of noise to come out this year and it will take some beating.
GUT PIE EARSHOT - Wait LP
The long-awaited 2nd full-length LP release from this incredible German punk / HC band, which is just brimming over with gut-felt rage and urgent desparation. GPE play intensely emmotion-filled music, with haunting female vocals and some of the most innovative music ever to come from the punk movement. (Kl.)
HARUM SCARUM - Suppose we try LP
Repressed and Back in stock! The second full length release from this Portland USA based group of women. They lost their raucus crusty vocalist and the band became a far more enjoyable three piece playing powerful anarcho punk with a strong feminine twist. A split release with the band´s Hex records.
HELLKRUSHER - Doomsday hour LP
1996 classic uk album, if you are into Concrete Sox, Varukers, Discharge…
HIBERNATION - Into the Silence of eternal Sorrow LP
This is raging! 10 songs that are bursting of energy and rage! Hints to Amebix and Axegrinder are obvious, at least the athmosfear they create. Songs are sometimes quite slow and heavy, they are also not afraid of using a keyboards, the rest is upbeat, harsh, metallic hardcorepunk with fe/male vocals. This is so much better than their last 7" called "Loneliness". Production is top notch as is the cover art and the 20-pages full colour booklet. Awesome!
KAFKA PROSESS - Ingen Fattige, Ingen Rike LP
For all of you who aren´t familiar with this norwegian band: they existed from ´84 to ´87, were the following band of "Svart Framtid", featuring Gunnar on vocals who later after Kafka Prosess´ decline, formed with other friends "So Much Hate" & were in my opinion one of the best HC bands that ever came from Norway or even Europe!! On here you find all the stuff that Kafka Prosess have recorded in their 3 years of existence incl. an previous unreleased 7" session
LA FRACTION - Aussie le sera le chemin LP
The title translates into: "however long it takes". This is their 2nd Lp and it was really worth the wait. Raging straightforward fast and melodic punk with some of the best female vocals you can come across!! The style of singing reminds me a lot of this typical french "chanson-style" singing, if you don't know what I mean, get this and find out. Nothing really changed, but the production is more powerful than on their last already outstanding release. Comes in a nice 4-coloured sleeve with a 4 coloured booklet - lyrix are translated in english for those who are not familiar with french.

LOST WORLD - Capitalism is the Disease 2x7"
Available in a very limited stock. First Double 7" by this Outstanding German (Anarcho) Punk Band.
LUNAR MUSIC - Eclipse… 2xLP
double LP feat Pete from CRESS with friends doing experimental rave or lets say electro atmospheric avangarde? with strong political messages in their “lyrix”, nice to chill out maybe...???
OI POLLOI - Fuaim catha LP
1999 record, anarcho green.punk from Scotland, finest!!
OPERATION - Frihet? LP
first and best LP of total cliché but fucking great and powerfull swedish anarcho punk .. dual fe/male shoutings... extended lyrix and a fat booklet with explanations, images and infos around their actions... this is the pre- “Protestera” Band but already goes pretty much in this direction.
OPERATION - Destruktiv Utveckling LP
"Co-produced with Pozoin banaketak this in the bandis third and brandnew full length album!! 11 songs of emotional powerful pop (punk) including a new version of ""next exit wonderland"", and ""song for jessie"" that finally made it on an album! Coming with a 32 pages booklet, all original drawings by Muriel Moritz, an article by Noam Chomsky on the new war on terror and a lot more! Everything both in english and spanish! "
PETROGRAD - Nine one one LP
"Co-produced with Pozoin banaketak this in the bandis third and brandnew full length album!! 11 songs of emotional powerful pop (punk) including a new version of ""next exit wonderland"", and ""song for jessie"" that finally made it on an album! Coming with a 32 pages booklet, all original drawings by Muriel Moritz, an article by Noam Chomsky on the new war on terror and a lot more! Everything both in english and spanish! "
PREYING HANDS - Through the dark LP
Upon returning from a European tour late in 2006, Ballast promptly broke up. 3/5th of the band would continue to play together and soon would form PREYING HANDS including new members whose previous efforts included Montreal bands Snake Master, Desperate Living and Last Days. The sound seamlessly blends an odd combination of crust, melodic hardcore and a touch of pop punk. The powerful female vocals, that lyrically combine the personal with the political, complete an intense picture. Production was handled on this debut effort by Mark Lawson (Arcade Fire, weird...) at the Pines and mastered at Mammoth Sound by Dan Randall (Limp Wrist, Government Warning).
PROTESTERA - Kampen Gar Vidare LP
"Another release of excellent anarcho- punk from Sweden (with former members of Operation). Upbeat and fast punk music with mostly female vocals and angry, political lyrics (English translations provided). Don't miss out on this one!"" "
PROTESTERA - 01.05.1886 LP
New fullength from Protestera which gives us a new approach to society and it´s boundaries. Taking up where Rock n riot left off; raging speed and anger, as fast and aggressive and powerful a-punk could get. 11 songs in total (3 are re-recorded) that show that this band manages to invent themselves over and over again from release to release. The thoughtful lyrix and thoughts are printed in a 36-pages booklet with lot´s of graphics. The title really says it all; 01.05.1886. The date itself is when the Haymarker massacre took place where five anarchists where sentenced to death for throwing a bomb into a crowd of people. All of them where innocent. Although this was a long time ago, 140 years to be exact, the situation is basicly the same today. If you have an opinion about society that´s not really applied in today´s society, you still will be sentenced for your thoughts.
RAWSIDE - Outlaw LP
The fourth full-length release from one of Germany's oldest and most well-known punk rock bands. Once again Rawside deliver the goods, playing 80's style punk rock with just enough of a metal edge to keep it interesting and fresh. Most of the songs are in English and the lyrics cover a wide range of political topics as well as keeping the spirit of punk rock alive. If you've never heard Rawside before, then it's about fuckin' time for your education to begin!! As usual for a Skuld Releases record, it comes in a beautiful package that includes full-color gatefold sleeve and printed inner sleeve with lyrics.
RE/SISTERS - Riots not diets 7"
Those anarcha-feminists are known for being a real pain in the ass for every macho in the Punkscene for years now, got finally their shit together by releasing this 20 minutes 7" with rough, archaic, cutting edge punk with a trumpet & manic sometimes disharmonic screaming, but it grows on you after a few listenings. The record comes in a Crass-like sleeve with a 32 pages booklet filled with lyrics collages & writings about beauty ideals, eating disorders/anorexical disease.
RIPCORD - Discography part 3: From Demo Slaves to Radio Waves LP
The third and final LP in the series documenting the recorded works of one of the most remarkable hardccore bands from the UK during the late 80's. This LP compiles tracks from nearly the opposite end of this bands careerr, kicking off with the up until now unreleased John Peel Radio Session (exquisitely recorded at the BBC's Maida Vale Studios) and finishing off with a pair of demos, which were later re-recorded as the Defiance of Power LP and the famous flexi EP.
SAW THROAT - Indestroy LP
Re-issue of one of my alltime favourite crust Lps from the UK. In 1989 this project was born and executed by members of DOOM, SORE THROAT and an unknown guy called Hammy ;) - a killer ONE song (divided intio chapters though) concept album was the result. Passionate, epic and pounding Crust that is heavily influenced by bands like Amebix, Hellbastard, Antisect. Cool riffage, pounding drums, keyboards and rough vocals are the trademark of their mostly midtempo anarchocrust sound. The allover topic of the album is the man-made destruction of our planet delivered in an urgent way, emphasized by the apocalyptic artwork of Steve Hutton. Re-issue comes in a nicely put together gatefold + linernotes of the "singer".(Kleister)
THE SYSTEM - Thought control LP
The System formed in the summer of 1980 having messed around in various other bands since 1978. In 1981 they met a band called FLUX OF PINK INDIANS, who helped them make their first single - the Warfare ep. This was very successful and contained their anthem - the Dogs Of War. By mid 1981 they were touring with FLUX OF PINK INDIANS and the legendary CRASS. They followed up with their second single - the System Is Murder. By this time they were being recognized all over the Uk, Europe and the USA. Soon the album would follow and here it is! Sorry it is a bit late but politics never change. And its as relevant today as it would have been then.
TRAGEDY - s/t LP
From the opening acoustic intro to the last dark, thrashed out note this is one seriously intense album. The obvious comparisons His Hero Is Gone and From Ashes Rise are there for sure but to me this has a bit more of a straight up hardcore feel to it. That said though, this has some excellent heavy pounding drum beats happening and some changes in pace, pitch and mood that are so tight and sudden they scream for your attention. The harsh throaty vocals belt out lyrix that are written as single block paragraphs dealing with overtly sociopolitical issues all looked at from a less than positive point of view. This record is very heavy, very angry and although you will probably like it, it will not make you happy!
TRAGEDY - Vengeance LP
2nd LP of the Tragedy phenomenom! raw, well produced powerfull d beat/ punk that was simply unique and oustanding! yet leads to another wave of pure “jump on the bandwagon” mentallity for a shitload of today bands..., well, just like Discharge, twenty years ago...hm? it´s a sad odd world innit?
