aggression of their notorious live shows while truely showcasing their
songwriting skills and musicianship. VX take their furious hardcore
sound even further into the realms of 70's rock riffage and wild guitar
solos, never letting up on the high energy thrash punk. Recorded and
Engineered at Electrical Audio Studios in Chicago by Steve Albini (Nirvana,
Neurosis) it has an enormous sound. The album features lead vocals by
Negative Approach's John Brannon on 2 songs and amazing artwork by John

searing guitars. These tracks are both faster and heavier than their

MARYLAND DOOM FOR THE BROTHERHOOD OF MUSIC! Earthride are a another
incredible band from the Doom Capitol / Maryland, the fertile breeding
ground that has spawned: Hidden Hand, Pentagram, Internal Void, Wretched,
Iron Man, Unorthodox, and Spirit Caravan. In fact, theres connections
to some of these bands, drummer Eric Little was in Internal Void, and
singer Dave Sherman was in Wretched and also played bass in Spirit Caravan(along
with sharing vocal duties with Wino). The Earthride sound is a brutal
combination of Sherms' whiskey burned, Lemmy's esque vokill strain wrecked
into a punishing mountain of doom. One listen to the mammoth wall of
guitar that Kyle Van Steinburg blankets over the concrete rhythm section
and its obvious that Earthride holds their own. The band played many
shows in support of this album including opening for High On Fire, Superjoint
Ritual, Nebula, Clutch, Pentagram, Earth, sunn0))), Mastodon... Southern
Lord released the debut from Earthride: Taming of the Demons in May
2002 as CD version only. This album was re-released by Doomentia Records
as vinyl version for the first time ever. PIC LP / one-time pressing
of 500 copies / jacket with die-cut / insert. |

the Baker is the guy arrested in Woodstock, NY 1994 for the lyrical
content of his songs. He proved the case against him unconstitutional
in court and sued the town of woodstock and their police dept. for 1
million dollars. The Baker then settled out of court for $20,000, and
shut down the bakery, made a record and went on tour. This side of the
split 7" with MDC Unplugged tells the story with a detailed description
in the liner notes and with the songs. Ladder of Pigs is the song John
was arrested for and Cops is the song he wrote after his arrest which
tells the story of how the woodstock police were having sex with underaged
girls. John the Baker with the assistance of a few town board members
got a secrete investigation against the woodstock PD and got half the
police force fired for sexual mis conduct |
