LP
Debut release from this D-beat Crust band with members of Maldito Pais and Derrota, among others, with10 tracks (plus an Anticimex cover) filled with anger and hate from the human wasteland that is Valencia. Short and simple lyrics (spitting hate never needed much ornaments) complemented with some text in the insert. 3-way partnership in the artwork (Front, back and insert) that looks solid nevertheless.

AVSKUM
Uppror Underifran
LP
Blasting an unrelenting wall of D-beat hardcore, Resonating with vitality, "Uppror Underifran" (translated loosely "Uproar from the Underground") by Swedish Legends AVSKUM is stunningly, their most severe record in the band's 26 year history. An overkill attack of smashing drums and guitar riffage, This Fourth Lp hearkens back to their 1982 origins , with a heavy DISCHARGE bent ala' ANTI-CIMEX mired with the incomprehensibily raw, blunt and brutal song structures found in the original era of Swedish hardcore punk. The MOTORHEAD-ish rock overdrive of their previous Prank LP's is still cranked with the curt economy of masters at the top of their game, capped with AVSKUM's inventive song structures and always great, trademark harsh vocals, all captured in a exceptional recording from Gothenburg's EVIL GRILL studio and slapped in a cool sleeve by Swedish artist CRASH MANGE. Taking a four year break since their last LP,"Punkista", the band took time writing "Uppror Underifran" to deliver 16 incredibly rock solid tracks that transition from their previous recordings to now have largely entirely Swedish lyrics, but still take relevant aim at U.S. War Policy, Capitalism and Mass consumption. Stunningly one of the band's best outings to date.

CANNABIS CORPSE / GHOUL
Split
LP
Splatterhash, the new split EP from Cannabis Corpse & Ghoul, is such a great combination of artists. Kicking things off with weed-themed death metal group Cannabis Corpse gets you into a super chilled out death metal state of mind and then Ghoul comes in and beat the shit out of you for trying to relax while listening to heavy music. The beauty of the split is that while they're both playing fairly different styles of music, it's similar enough to flow as a cohesive unit without getting muddy at the break between artists.

This Dolp features all the releases that CRESS has done in the past couple of years. The "Monuments" LP, their side of the split 10" with Doom + the "From Violence To Consumerism" 7" + 20 something minutes of unreleased songs! - - Soundwise you have to take the infamous old-school anarcho-punk 1-2-1-2 drum tempo and chanted hard-hitting slogans and fuse it to the modern D.I.Y. punk sound (metal Èinnit?) and you have Cress - Slow, heavy and menacing mayhem riding along the lines of ANTISECT, FLUX OF PINK INDIANS with a punch of KILLING JOKE, dark tripped-out sound effects and keyboard, loads of anger aimed at the desecrators of our earth. Punk! Lyrics that are trully heartfelt and well thought out, straightforward and sincere, I can feel the compassion and conviction of the punk community when I hear these songs. This is the kind of stuff that keeps me going! Comes with poster and lyric booklet with lots of graphics!!

The Dropdead tracks were recorded live at Sunlight Studio in Stockholm, Sweden by Thomas Skogsberg back in 1998/99, legendary studio for classics by Entombed, Dismember, Wolfpack etc. Kurt Ballou at God City did some audio magic on them in in February 2003. The Unholy Grave tracks were recorded at studio "Music House" by Takaho, November 2002. A total of ten tracks here, five by each band. Furious, fast and brutal political HC from Dropdead. Noisy blasting grind from Unholy Grave.

DROPDEAD / CONVERGE
Split
7”
A pairing of two legendary bands celebrating their joint twenty year history within the Punk/Hardcore genre. Both songs were recorded at Kurt Ballou's God City Studios in early 2011, and mastered by John Golden (Neurosis, Melvins, etc). "Runaway" from Converge is an instant classic for the band, unrelenting in its speed and emotional ferocity from beginning to end. While Dropdead's "Paths of Glory" is an unforgettable political punk/hardcore anthem, that proves that the years behind the band have only strengthened their hold on the battlefront of the true underground.

INSTIGATORS
Nobody Listens Anymore
LP
2015 marks the 30 years anniversary of their classic first (and only) full length LP "Nobody Listens Anymore". We're very pleased to say at least to re-issue this uk anarcho-punk milestone and make it available again for the first time since almost 3 decades! Originally released on 'SUBHUMANS' own Bluurg Records back in 1985. The INSTIGATORS where a bunch of enthusiastic Anarcho-punk kids that managed to play a style of raging, powerful and "in your face" punkrock with the right amount of melody and anger. Their lyrix have a bold political message which among other bands of this era left quite an impact on the Anarcho-punk scene of the early eighties of the last century. Needless to say that their lyrical as well as musical content stands the test of time and is as relevant today as it was back then. The (original) INSTIGATORS disbanded shortly after the release of this classic LP just to reform in a different line up to continiue towards a more "american rock" influenced style of punk and never reached the same peak as the (original) line up. Some may disagree, but for us, the original INSTIGATORS are most essential and this is an absolute Anarcho-Punk Classic and a must have for every collection! Comes with original sleeve, insert plus an additional poster. Includes Linernotes by Hammy. All 10 tracks remastered by Ian Glasper. Includes DOWNLOAD Codes.

TRAGEDY
Nerve Damage
LP
Portland’s Tragedy is the way to go if you’re looking for hardcore that’s simultaneously traditional, eerie, classical-leaning, and progressive. They’ve got that atmosphere-filling sweep of From Ashes Rise, that raspy, immediate barb of Seein’ Red, where you know they’re not fucking around, and, I suspect, that if someone in the band wasn’t trained on a classical instrument, someone in their families was. It’s just too bomb-like precise and textured to merely stumble into such layered songwriting. Throw a bit of Lemmy into the bottom of the smoking bomb crater, and you’ve got a band that’s definitely in the top five percent of hardcore being created right now, in league with Fucked Up. That said, this 3rd LP’s beautiful: gatefold, silver-leaf, all DIY, done by the band, and it sounds absolutely great. Remember when people were all rightfully jacked up on Crudos in the ‘90s? Same’s happening to Tragedy right now, and it couldn’t happen to a more deserving band.

ARCTIC FLOWERS
Weaver
LP
Portland’s Arctic Flowers with their long-awaited second LP! After last year’s excellent "Procession" EP, an EP that showcased the Flowers’ talent for combining the tradition of anarcho/peace punk with a postpunk sensibility, the new "Weaver" LP continues in much the same vein. The first side kicks off with the energetic track "Magdalene" and the pace doesn’t let up too much from there, culminating in the barnstorming track "Anamnesis", which employs a riff that reminds me of a Rudimentary Peni track (specifically, "The Evil Clergyman" off RP's "Cacophony"). But it's Side 2 that contains my favorite tracks off this new release. The second side kicks off with the memorable track “Byzantine”, guitarist Stan Wright lays down a chunky, Killing Joke-esque riff (think of that band’s song "Tension" mixed with "The Wait"), complemented by frontwoman Alex's vocals, which recall the classic goth-punk of bands like Rubella Ballet and Lost Cherrees. The following title track, "Weaver" is another winner – just a great mid-tempo punk rocker that, in true Arctic Flowers fashion, blurs the boundaries between classic punk, postpunk, and early gothic rock. Indeed, in an interview I did with Arctic Flowers almost two years ago, founder and guitarist Stan Wright stated, "Our sound is a mix of punk, deathrock, post punk, and goth. Aggressive but at times danceable and melodic."

LP
Formed in Portland, OR back in the summer of ‘06 by Mark Herman (vocals, guitar), Derek Willman (bass) and Keith Testerman (drums). After playing a handful of shows that summer/fall in their home of the pacific northwest they recorded their first session at the type foundry studios Portland. Resulting in 3 singles (self titled, sacred decay, entranced) along with a split 7” with Autistic Youth and a compilation track for a 7” in 2007. The session would later be issued on full length as the “Type Foundry Session 1” release (released in the u.s. by Dirtnap and Black Water records and in Japan by HG:Fact). Following this session they would release their debut LP "Static Thoughts" in 2008 on Dirtnap records in the U.S. and Sabotage in Europe. Supporting this release with a handful of tours including a full U.S. tour with friends, The Red Dons and a west coast tour with Spectres from Vancouver among others… Following these tours they would embark in a darker direction than the previous releases with their 2010 release titled "The Subliminal Man" (inspired by the story by J.G. Ballard). The songs took on a deeper and more complex sound incorporating more synths and experimental textures and sounds. In the summer of 2011 they made a 5 week tour of Europe in support of "The Subliminal Man". After their return from Europe they would begin writing/demoing more songs this time taking more time than in the past to create a more specific sound. The songs written during this 3 year period would be their best to date and would be appearing on their new Self-Titled album to be released in January 2014 by Dirtnap records and Sabotage Records. The Influences on their newest album ranging from the Echo & the Bunnymen/The Only Ones/These Immortal Souls to The Troggs/The Creation. Lyrically, on this new album The Estranged have more of an enduring angst ridden approach. Testifying to an account much more personal than in the past. Musically, they experiment with even more instruments/sounds, e.g., the use of a bow on guitar, feedback loops, piano, farfisa, backwards guitar, female back-up vocals, etc. As a result showing the bands continued maturity in their song writing and in the recording process…

FEAR OF GOD
Pneumatic Slaughter
7”
Recorded live in Switzerland, February 1988. 7" originally released on Atrocious Records, USA in 1991 and now reissued by Anomie Records, Germany. For what this band is worth, they rule. They're long since broken up now, and in their time together they didn't get quite the opportunity to output a lot of great material. But one thing is for sure, this band's 1990 effort, "Pneumatic Slaughter", brings not just raw and uncontrollable animosity to the table, but a sound that is unique, fresh, and easily distinguishable from the massive up rise of grind being seen at this point in time with bands such as Carcass and their "Reek of Putrification", and goregrind only just starting to peek its way into the world. This buried gem of an album can/should be looked upon years from now as one of the forerunners of the grand sound we grinders love to hear in our daily dose of crusted brutality.

Oh no, it’s Radiation Records again!!! Great reissue, for the first time on vinyl, of the legendary video tape released by Jettisoundz video in 1983. GENERACION SUICIDA
Todo Termina
LP
Second 12" from Generacion Suicida. This time around the group (from South Central, not East LA) brings 9 tracks of their sound. This is their sound, not some knock off, not some imitation, not a homage or retro dress up party... this is what the group does best. I'll save any boring comparisons and you save yours. Jam it up super and see. Recorded in 2014 after a European tour. The record comes in a great one sided screen printed clear red vinyl!

LEATHERFACE
Minx
LP
Minx is the fourth full-length album by the English punk band Leatherface originally released in 1993. Though regarded as a lesser album than its predecessor, Mush, it was still generally well received, many reviews citing its strength as a stand-alone album. Sometimes melodic, sometimes aggressive UK hardcore punk is what you’re gonna get if you dig this record!

NEWTOWN NEUROTICS
Beggars Can Be Choosers
LP
The 1983 full-length, Beggars Can Be Choosers, was The Newtown Neurotics' blistering, blazing statement of intent. It was also perhaps the most out-of-step and utterly bizarre punk record England produced that year–simply for being the most ordinary one. Stringy, angular, cynical, and warily sensitive, Beggars is simply one of the best unsung British punk albums of all time. And The Neurotics' earnest self-righteousness is so endearing, so goddamn goofy; while the world of music–punk included–whizzed by them in the early '80s, the band stood their ground and played punk rock the way they imagined it ought to be.

7”
With style reserved only for the true scholars of doom, NOOTHGRUSH offer their latest rendering- a micro/macro requiem EP. This release presents NOOTHGRUSH at their most refined; the songs are immensely paced in relation to the lyrical content, opting for acceptance of decay, and ultimately death. The restraint and respect NOOTGRUSH treat their instruments with is magnanimously rewarded in the final outcome, adding to the seriousness and depth of their conclusion. Recorded and mixed at EARHAMMER STUDIOS and mastered at AUDIOSIEGE for maximum sonic impact.

STALIN, The
Stalinism
LP
One of the most seminal Japanese punk bands ever, Stalin formed in 1980 and blew away all previous attempts at Japanese punk thanks to their frontman Michiro Endo's crazy on-stage perfomances and their unique style. Even though by the release of their first LP "Trash" in 1981 Stalin moved towards a more 'hardcore/punk' direction, which resulted in what's known to be their best work - the classic 'Stop Jap' LP from 1982, Stalin's early singles are one of the best examples of what would be 15 years later defined as 'killed by death' punk rock. Originally released in 1987, the 'Stalinism' LP collected their first flexi 7", the 'Stalinism' EP, the 'Fish Inn' flexi single, along with 'Chicken Farm' their contribution to the legendary international hardcore compilation 'Welcome to 1984', to whom Stalin owe a good portion of their cult status. A great reissue for all Japanese punk fans out there.

Split
LP
Simply a classic split of UK Anarcho Thrash that was very hard to find when released due to the fact that they all sold out pretty much straight away. Generic swing wildly between all out thrash and melodic hippy folk, and yes it works. Great tracks. Electro Hippies play fucking fast but even it out with some nice moody moments and a penchant for tongue in cheek lyrics. This recording feature's one Jeff Walker of Carcass fame amongst the Hippy line up.

Sonic Crime Therapy
2xLP
Fourteen years after their vinyl only release "Military Affairs Neurotic", GISM is finally back with a full-length studio album … and it’s pure mayhem. "Sonicrime Therapy" features a lethal dose of mosh-metal with elements of noise. The song "KI-3" was actually already featured on the rare '95 VHS release "Subj and Egos, chopped". Except for the jazzy "Dual Improvisations for Hypochondriac" and the last, aural soundscape/(white)noise track "Phenomenal Exile in Schizophrenic Patients", every song is very tight. When the second song from this album kicks in, named "KI-1", You are just being ripped to shreds. The riffs and breaks are more ingenious here than on the "Detestation" (1984) album. They are sharper than a razor. Even 9 years later it still sounds relevant and aggressive. This album is truly intense and dark. GISM has always been a strange, but good band with a strong and cult following. Sakevi had the most vicious and brutal vocals back in the 80's and 90's. He definitely proves he is still up to this on this album. Imagine when members from Bathory or Venom and Discharge meet and create something new. That's pretty much what GISM sounds like in a nutshell. Ironfist Tatsushima is drumming violently fast on this one. "Sonicrime Therapy" is truly unique and not radio-friendly (which is good, of course). “RUNS-3” and “KI-5” reminds You of those older GISM songs like “Death Exclamations” and “Shoot to Kill” that were released in the early 80’s: harsh and energetic. The band is really showing their skills and expertise on this album. “RU-1” features some deep and dark growls, it just blows You away next to the raging guitars and drumming. The artwork on this album is awesome. Too bad Randy Uchida died shortly after the release of this album. Rest in peace.

M.D.C. / RESTARTS
Mobocracy
LP
In continuing with their recent flurry of activity in the last five to six years, Millions of Dead Cops have paired up with London street punks the Restarts for this rousing 15-song split LP. With the questionable quality of some of MDC's more recent output (especially their acoustic split with John the Baker), Mobocracy is undoubtedly some of their finest work since fully reemerging with Magnus Domingus Corpus, an effort that flowed awkwardly at times and was uneven at best. Here, the songs are biting and terse, with more engaging music and a better vocal delivery by loquacious frontman Dave Dictor. The Restarts have been brewing below the surface in the States for awhile, more popular with the anarcho/crust crowd despite their raw street style and members from bands like Armed and Hammered, UK Subs and the Varukers. The rough production suits their style well, though it also facilitates a level of homogeny throughout the track list, aside from two songs that do stand out from the bunch. Fans of either band should know what they're getting into with Mobocracy. MDC has compiled some of their best songs in recent years on their half, and the Restarts' aggressive street punk strongly lets up through their eight-song contribution. Complete with a foldout lyrics poster and great artwork by Kieran Plunkett of the Restarts, Mobocracy is a nice addition to both bands' catalogues.

RAPID LOSS
S/T
LP
I reckon this is pretty ace. Seven of the tracks are fast, brutal, upper-tier hardcore that go beyond most traditional standards of punishment. Comparisons might include Manpig, Stations, BGK or a bulked-up and incredulous SSD, with everything barked, grinding and heavy enough around the shoulders that you'd definitely think twice about spilling their pint and then laughing in their face about the silly thing you just did. The singer barely seems to spit the words out fast enough, and oftentimes the band follows suit as though they're all but tripping over themselves to get all that excess rage out. After this initial flurry of activity, the whole of side b comprises antagonistic pounder 'Death Persuades'. This goes on. And it goes on. And it goes on. But in the best possible way: a horrible, gluey, Flipper-like lurch that lasts for 14 minutes and sounds like the band are trying to headbutt their way through a brick wall just so they can get to you and kick you in your stupid bloody face. It's a right treat, and makes it kinda tough to decide just which side you might like more.

RUIDOSA INMUNDICIA / SOLID DECLINE
Split
LP
Solid Decline (Germany) and Ruidosa Inmundicia (Austria) combine together on this amazing split LP that is a limited German pressing on Thought Crime Records and comes in a double sided screen printed cover and clear vinyl. Solid Decline blend a modern hardcore sound with a harsh style and feel like that of Die Kreuzen or CCM. Each track punishes with little time to think or react with amazingly violent vocals that makes Solid Decline one of the best bands to come from Germany in recent memory. Ruidosa Inmundicia side equally blazes with anthemic hardcore reminicent of many great South/Central American hardcore bands with members from Chile who now live in Austria. Ruidosa Inmundicia screams with a fierce passion combined with amazing female vocals (in spanish), pounding drums, and a break-neck guitar sound that makes their sound fresh and original. Both bands add a lethal blend of fast energy-laced hardcore with pulse-racing catchiness that rips. Truly, one of the best split LP in years.

The December 2014 issue, features an interview with Brazil’s powerful RAKTA, who just took North America by storm and are about to embark on a full European tour; and a conversation with Craig, bassist of Philly’s unsung ’80s hardcore legends AUTISTIC BEHAVIOR, whose long-lost LP Shattered Cattle was recently released by SRA Records. World-renowned pastry chef Brooks Headley — drummer of BORN AGAINST, (YOUNG) PIONEERS, WRANGLER BRUTES, C.R.A.S.H., UNIVERSAL ORDER OF ARMAGEDDON and more — talks about his new cookbook and cooking on the road in the ’90s. Newcomers PROTESTER and MISLED YOUTH take a break from their summer tour to visit the MRR compound, listen to SSD records, and reflect on the value of all-ages shows. Israel’s MARMARA STREISAND talk politics and punk; anarcho-punk legends POISON GIRLS discuss the recent reissues of their classic LPs, and the Bay Area’s DICK & JANE talk about their decades-long partnership. Rhode Island’s Mothers News waxes on the esoteric and exoteric in print media, long-running Brooklyn DIY space Death By Audio gives a swan-song interview before closing later this month, Bay Area by way of Eastern Europe crust label Doomed To Extinction clue us in on their recent releases, and powerviolence grinders NUNHEX offer a peek at life as a punk in Miami, Florida. BRUTAL KNIGHTS
Feast Of Shame
LP
Time was when Brutal Knights were more of a funny band whose shenanigans made you giggle and whose music functioned as a soundtrack to their public debauchery. Well, Brutal Knights are still a funny band but Feast of Shame is a whole lot more than aural wallpaper to Friday night’s shit fest. An ass-walloping 14 songs in 18 minutes, the band demonstrate a clever sense of humour on songs like "We Have A Website” (chorus: "Brutal Knights dot fucking com”) but from the beginning of fiery opener "The Perfect Buffet” the band manage to meld insane energy, catchy barked vocals and an instrumental backing that recalls the outright aggression of Hardcore 81. Nick Flanagan, the group’s vocalist, does his best to play dumb, but this just affords him the opportunity to take the piss out of any and all of his chosen targets.

LP
Reissue of the Freeze's 1995 LP, and it's actually the first time this full-length has made it to vinyl. This came out at the peak of the 90s pop-punk scene, and while it definitely shows some influence from that scene (particularly in the rather clean production), this is still the Freeze and still has a ton of their rough-around-the-edges sound. If the only things you like are "I Hate Tourists" and Guilty Face this might not be for you, but if you can still get down with Land of the Lost I'd recommend checking this out, as it's a high-energy, catchy punk album along the lines of that record or maybe Horse Bites-era DI.

WARHEAD come from the former capital of the Empire, Kyoto, and there's no doubt they're among the top classic hard core bands from the Land of the Rising Sun. Insane Society now releases the most important of their 1991-2004 work on one LP wrapped in a cover by well-known japcore artist Sugi - 22 songs from their out-of-print and hard-to-find 7", split and compillation releases, boasting remastered sound (as heard on a CD previously released by Blood Sucker Records). The first song, "Cry of the Truth", is a solid punch in the face right off and this maelstrom of the most frantic hardcorepunk won't let you go until the needle has come to the last groove of the record. Maniac vocals mixed with massive sung-along refrains, guitars in the red, roaring bass, rabid drumming and cymbals sounding like a whiplash - all this makes for an incredibly loud and energetic mix, supported by lyrics full of defiance and desire to never conform and to never give up!

LP
Another great shot in the name of the Metal of Death! HAEMOPHAGUS formed in Palermo, Italy in 2004. Throughout a few line-up changes, Haemophagus have always tried to deliver grinding and thrashing Death metal, releasing several splits, a full-length album (Slaves to the Necromancer), touring Italy and Europe, playing grindcore’s Woodstock – OEF in 2011 and so on… Atrocious is the title of Haemophagus’ second album. It will display 13 brand new tracks of old school Death, Thrash, Grind, Horror and Doom metal, mixed together in totally perverted ways, following the path traced by Autopsy and Repulsion, but poorly concealing a deep love for Black Sabbath… Guest appearances on vocals by Dopi (MACHETAZO), Uchino (COFFINS), Dave (P.L.F.) and Sandro (ex-UNDEAD CREEP)!

MAXIMUM ROCK N' ROLL
#377 October '14
ZINE
In Maximum Rocknroll #377, the October 2014 issue, we have an extended interview with chaotic hardcore band FRACASO, featuring reflections on life as a punk in Venezuela and the complications of playing in a band with members spread across the globe. Mia d’Bruzzi from early Bay Area punk band FRIGHTWIG tells us about life as a feminist in a developing punk scene and the band’s current projects. Yecatl Peña (from INSERVIBLES, TERCER MUNDO, and more) drew this month’s cover and shares a long-overdue Mexico City scene report, with a rundown on all the bands, venues, festivals, and record shops you need to know about in the new wave of Chilango punk. Poland’s GOVERNMENT FLU share reflections on their US tour, while Seoul, South Korea’s MYMANMIKE look forward to their upcoming journey through North America and tell us how three dudes from three continents ended up playing in a powerviolence band together. Prolific label Mind Cure Records gives us a window into their multi-layered history as documentors of Pittsburgh punk, and we’re introduced to the synthy sounds of Greece’s ERA OF FEAR and England’s MEN OH PAUSE. Bay Area motörpunks ELEGY clue us in on their upcoming plans, HARSH WORDS reassure us that there’s more to Athens, GA than REM, and we’ve got two photo spreads featuring shots from L.A.’s Beserktown Festival and New York’s Latino Punk Fest. And, of course, we’ve got all the columnists you love to hate, plus demo, book, movie and zine reviews, and, as always, the most extensive record reviews section in punk print.

Fourteen blood-soaked songs selectively chosen from the "Grinning Like An Undertaker" LP, the "Straight Razor" 12" EP, and the "Splatter Rock" LP sessions. Exhumed from the graves of 1990-1993, this compilation of nail-pounding, metal-edged splatterrock will serve as a collection of works from the Nasty Mix era!! AGNOSTIC FRONT
Victim In Pain
LP
One of the greatest genre-defining hardcore bands of all time, Agnostic Front, has changed the face of music throughout their 25-year-long career. The two records that started it all, United Blood and Victim in Pain, are legendary NYHC releases and some of the most sought after pieces of music for fans and collectors. Finally, these two releases are coming back to life via Bridge Nine Records. Agnostic Front’s second release, Victim In Pain, was recorded 1984. These album was a blast of pure New York hardcore that confirmed AF’s status as leaders of the NYHC movement alongside precursors the Cro-Mags and Murphy’s Law.

CATHOLIC SPIT
A Pact With The Devil
LP
Debut 12" from this California punk / death rock band. I almost hesitate to hit them with the "death rock" tag because so many bands are doing that style with such a range of different approaches and competency levels, but it's somewhat appropriate even if Catholic Spit are way more punk than most bands in this vein. There's the omni-present chorus pedal and lady vox, of course, but these songs are almost all played at nearly-hardcore tempos and pack way more of a wallop than just about anyone else I can think of in this style. If your idea of goth leans more toward peak-period Damned and TSOL, check this LP out... it's a ripper.

COCK SPARRER
Guilty As Charged
LP
Remixed and remastered to bring out the energy in this perhaps under-appreciated release, the new "Guilty As Charged" LP allows the music to shine as it should. Amidst all the craziness in the punk rock world in 1994, this was Cock Sparrer's answer... a tip of the hat and two fingers in the air letting everyone know that what all the kids were suddenly making money selling, they'd been doing for over twenty years... because they loved it. They weren't going to stop having fun and doing things their way, as can be witnessed all over this record. Limited edition of 400 copies.

Apocalyptic deathcrust conceived midst the urban decay of Oakland; expanding upon the machine-like dirges of early GODFLESH and PITCHSHIFTER with the socially aware attitude akin to AMEBIX and AXEGRINDER. The "filth/grace" LP represent the earliest incarnation of DEPRESSOR, originally available as two home-dubbed cassettes- "filth" and "grace" (1995 and 1997, respectively)- available only in underground tape-trading circuits. DYSTOPIA
Human = Garbage
2xLP
The volume dealers at Tankcrimes are very pleased to announce the official reissue of the legendary Human=Garbage debut full-length from iconic West Coast sludge metal/crust punk missionaries, DYSTOPIA. Initially released in 1994 as a five-track LP on the band’s own Life Is Abuse and Misanthropic Records then followed in CD format as a twelve-track brutalizer with help from Common Cause in Germany who booked the band’s very first European tour, DYSTOPIA existed as a four piece with Mindrot’s Dan Kaufman on lead vocals, their doom-laden, metal-tinged, down-tuned punk and “love earth-hate people” philosophy reaping instant adoration from the Orange County underground upon forming. The pure, unadulterated anger and misery that pervades this record places it among the most disturbing, depressing and misanthropic offerings in creation. Said Punk News in a 2007 review, “…a crust-metal classic… the kind of record you don’t want your parents to know you own, lest they send you in for counseling. Truly a sickening, painful, brutal album to listen to, but it is definitely an ‘emotional safety valve.’ Not something to listen to when you’re in a good mood, but if you feel like beatin’ the shit out of everyone you see (or worse) consider putting Human = Garbage on.” Included on the Tankcrimes edition are tracks from the band’s 1993 splits with Grief and Embittered as well as one additional tune only previously released on the CD collection. Visually, DYSTOPIA took influence from both anarcho-punk collage art and graffiti culture, blending images of societal decay, inner turmoil and humanity’s destruction of the planet to create a style that goes hand in hand with the music. The Human=Garbage 2014 version includes a sixteen-page lyric booklet, the imagery proving indispensable alongside these twelve tracks. Set for official unveiling this Fall, the Tankcrimes reissue comes packaged as a double LP on clear vinyl with the aforementioned 7” x 7? sized booklet as well as a download card for the digitally astute. Fans Of Carcinogen, Mindrot, Kontraklasse, Kicker, Noothgrush pay heed.

PUNCH
They Don't Have To Believe
LP
They Don't Have To Believe is the best tightly wound ball of rage and righteous indignation Bay Area hardcore act Punch have produced yet, following two searingly intense full-lengths and a 2011 EP that raised the stakes on the band's catch-all approach to the style. After meshing together youth crew, powerviolence and ’80s fastcore to surprisingly cohesive and thrilling results, Believe sounds more singular, capturing the straightforward, unhinged aggression of American Nightmare ca. Background Music without any of the major-key shades that band occasionally let slip.

RHYTHM OF CRUELTY
In Time…
7”
The latest EP from Edmonton band, Rhythm of Cruelty, exudes a strong blend of Lo-Fi sound and gothic appeal. It’s glum from start to finish yet still exciting. Not all bands can get the whole “dark atmosphere” thing down without coming off pretentious or derivative. A lot of them end up sounding like bloated, third-rate Nine Inch Nails wannabes. After the brooding of the opening track “In Time” the album delivers 2 smooth and sort of heavy tunes in “The Past” and “The Walls pt.1?. They feel like the safer and more standard cuts. The last track “Pictures” is a real fun and spooky cut. I’d say it’s the strongest track on the album. The constant shredding chimes give ambiance to the eerie melody of lead singer Brandi’s vocals. There is a real strong image of British punk bands that immediately come mind. Like Joy Division, the feel is a dark one twined with a string of blissful melody throughout. Yet, it posses a modern feel, a definite product of what is possible electronically in music in this age.

Planet Punk
LP
First album of new material since 1986 from Rubella Ballet who were highly influential in both the anarcho-punk and the early gothic scenes. Rubella Ballet formed in 1979, with the nucleus of the band coming from a gig where Crass invited the audience to use their equipment and finish the gig. The band toured with Crass and the Poison Girls before touring with many other punk and goth bands. Rubella Ballet hail from the Anarcho punk scene but are equally at home playing the Goth scene as they were a part of its early conception. They were the band who bridged the gaps between The Sex Pistols, X Ray Spex, and Crass.

YACÖPSAE / RAZORS
Split
10”
Hamburg strikes back! If you think, UK '77 style high energy punk rock doesn't fit together with raging high-octane power-violence / thrash, here you got the counter evidence: Two - at first glance - absolutely different bands team up for the probably most unexpected split of the year! RAZORS, keeping the spirit alive since 1977, they're - without any doubt - one of the very first punk bands in Germany, and they still hit the pedal as far as it will go! Fasten seat belts, and get punched by their three songs of intense punk rock! YACØPSÆ, terrorizing the hardcore scene since 1990, and well-known for their short blasting eruptions, contribute two sludgy tracks of sheer fierceness and raw brutality! Putting two bands together with such different ways to express the term "punk rock" is a challenge, but on top they reach an impressively high level of pure energy and aggression, as you can hear on their live recordings. No effects, no overdubs - this is just the real deal! The 10 " are housed in a regular cover with printed inner sleeve! So don't miss it!

MUTOID MAN
Helium Head
LP
Two of the creative minds behind Mutoid Man are Stephen Brodsky (CAVE IN) and Ben Koller (CONVERGE). Having done numerous tours together during their lengthy tenures in both bands and having forged a connection spanning over a decade, it stood to reason that, when the two individually relocated to their current home of Brooklyn, NY, eventual collaboration could emerge. In fact, “collaboration” might be a bit of an understatement here, as it sometimes implies something almost whimsical or done as a favor from one party to another. If Helium Head is any indication, MUTOID MAN is far more than just a couple of established musicians doing some temporal weekend jamming. From the opening notes of album starter “Gnarcissist,” it’s hair-raisingly clear that Brodsky and Koller have fully-immersed themselves in yet another true gem and have served notice to fans and peers that the originators of a very specific brand of heavy music oft imitated, yet never quite mastered elsewhere, still hold firm dominion over the sonic landscape they carved out themselves many moons ago. For anyone thinking they have their “Best of 2013? lists well-sorted and about ready to go, Helium Head sneaks in under the gun with a Black Friday release and shakes everything up. Brodsky and Koller have done it… AGAIN!

ACCION MUTANTE
Worse Than A Virus
LP
After nineteen years of skull smashing, extreme crust the German crust veterans ACCION MUTANTE release their first full length " Worse than a Virus" on Power It Up Records. 17 new blast attacks of ripping, intense, pulverizing d- beat crust. The song structure is similar to that of say "DESTROY!" with distorted, growled vocals. Full-on, raging political crust with enough variety and anger to really make it interesting. The band's self-proclaimed influences are DISCHARGE, DOOM, and EXTREME NOISE TERROR. Throw in some NAPALM DEATH and ACCION MUTANTE is what you get. The regular LP version include also a poster.

AGATHOCLES
The LP's 1989-1991
LP
Re-release on vinyl of their 2 first LPs, the split with Lunatic Invasion and "Suppose it was you"... Essential pieces of grind noise!!! I can confess that the early Agathocles recordings are my favorites. This LP contains all their early hits (their early hits are all-time hits!) with this special "rehearsal" sounding really not "clean" at all and great! The good old times of real grindcore! The second part has a lot of live tracks, and contrary to "Razor sharp dagger" & "Black clouds determinate" live bonus tracks, this live material is not boring, without a big cheezy sound, just what grind needz: detuned guitars, blasting drums and simply grunt-roared or screamed vocals: what do you want more? Judge by the track listing, there are only great tracks! "Fog", "The accident" or "Big one": cult! cult! cult! The vinyl re- issue comes with lyrics and liner notes.

AHNA / CETASCEAN
Split
LP
Both are from Canada, with Ahna coming from the west coast and Cetascean hailing from Winnipeg (central Canada). The Ahna side has more in the way of Death metal influence, and is a little slower. The Cetascean side is a little more aggressive. This is a good combination of crust, black metal, death metal and sludge in reasonable doses. Great records by the way!

Confined
LP
This is their second 12" in their discography and has nine new songs which strike with total power and explosion of anger pointed in the right direction. This is the sound of Washington DC Straight Edge of our time. This is the soundtrack of their "Hardcore Without Borders" campaign as a full-on non-stop touring machine. These 9 songs will hit you hard with their raw and fast sound and lyrics that desperately attempt to liberate the individual from the modern societal trap where addictive and destructive consumerism in a homeland is linked to brutal military interventions in foreign countries. Take a deep breath before listening. Mastering by Smok (Post Regiment, Studio As One).

MASSGRAV
Extra Nitad
LP
Fasten your seat belts!! Sweden's own MASSGRAV are back on the map in order to annihilate your stereo. The Extra Nitad vinyl contains the tracks from both CD's which released years ago on Sound Pollution (USA) minus the EP tracks on these CD's. All together 36 tracks of rapid-fire, forceful, abrasive as hell Scandicore in the midst of raw, throaty vocal attacks (including a cover version from ATOMVINTER and LIMP WRIST). MASSGRAV plays something not too far from the modern Swedish hardcore, they do a more than adequate job at it. They are faster than VICTIMS and SKITSYSTEM, and their drumming is more "relentless" - altogether, they wind up kinda sounding like KRIGSHOT. With two equally effective vocalists, this is a pretty rippin' listen from start to finish. The drumming is a little monotonous, but the overall feel of this album leans towards the raw and fast. The vinyl re issue housed in a high quality 320gr gatefold sleeve!

PASSIV DODSHJALP / ACHILLES
Split
LP
Pure crustcore power. Pure fucking hate. A split between Passiv dödshjälp (Gävle) and Achilles (Stockholm). On this piece of plastic you can actually hear Passiv dödshjälp turning to the east for help; the first track Parallella världar, could easily have been made by Distress from Russia. Achilles were formerly known as Achilles last stand and formerly from the small town of Oskarshamn, down south Sweden. The music can be described as the cousin to End of all. Excellent metal/crust. No fucking bullshit!

One of the most important releases on Refuse in 2012 and also one of the most anticipated split releases of the year. This is just a killer combination of both incredible bands and there's no way that you'll be left disappointed after listening to this 9 loud assaults. This is ultra-fast ultra-raging straight-edge hardcore coming from Washington DC and Massachusetts. Mindblowing and devastating. This is second release of COKE BUST on Refuse after the incredible "Degradation" 7". This way the band broke their policy of working out with different label with every release and so we're stoked and proud! Super tight, unstoppable machine influenced by Heresy, Ripcord, early DRI and Infest. VACCINE is known from their three eps and this plain sonic, raw, noisy uncompromising attack. Members were in the bands like ORCHID, AMPERE, THINK I CARE, RELICS or involved in other things since over a decade.

LP
Despair, Erosion, Loss is a brutal as fuck masterpiece that runs for a brisk 33 minutes or so. But don’t let the brief running time put you off. Alaskan are masters of writing intricate Sludge Metal Riffs that will destroy your world and leave you an emotional wreck. Alaskan have always been one of the loudest Sludge/Post-Metal bands around but nothing can prepare you for this. Alaskan have delivered a defining statement on the world around them. There are no easy answers on this album. Gary and Cory are immense on vocals breathing life into every note they shout their hearts out to. BLACK SHAPE OF NEXUS / LAZAROUS BLACKSTAR
Split
LP
For this eagerly-awaited Split LP, the North-West of England meths the North-West of German as two storming merchants of doom crash headlong into each other for half-an-hour of immersive Sturm und Drang. From an early pressurized melting pot where Bradford and Liverpool´s Lazarus Blackstar crust-coated doom and blackened death-drone brews inside a morphing structure, the record steadily winds up the tempo until Mannheim sexted Black Shape Of Nexus take over and begin to introduce experimental layers of feedback and replace grit with groove. It all adds up to a wonderfully wretched experience that aims to bury you deep beneath six-feet of stinking, blackened soil. Setting off through the sludge and buzz-heavy riffing of Lazarus Blackstar’s “Command and Control”, Mik Hell’s growl and dissonant rage pitch us downwards until they find their spiritual nadir in a ponderous hole where two sets of layered vocals tear lumps out of each other upon a bedrock of whining drone. From here they dust themselves off and settle into the patchwork quilt of sections that form “Whispering Through Broken Teeth”. Reminiscent of St. Vitus and, to a point, Eyehategod there is also a moment where, disconcertingly, it all begins to sound a bit like a slowed-down Iron Maiden tape. Walking you through, we’ve got an introductory riff that cuts abrasively into a rumbling verse, before heading down to half-time for the chorus and then out into a displaced, yet memorably upbeat riff. Rinse and repeat ad infinitum. Experimenting with much more success, B.SON tug at their Neurosis chain and flush out a tongue-in-cheek offering to the Gods of doom. The 11-minute “Honor Found In Delay”, littered with psychedelic hits of feedback and noisy electronica, gets you deep in the gut with a thunderous, soul-shaking series of chords. The construction is much more organic here and stands in direct opposition to Lazarus Blackstar’s harsh segues. When they find their chug-friendly two-note doom boots they stomp about in them like pigs in muck with Malte Seidel screaming blue murder from, what sounds like, the other side of the street. Best of all, closer “Always And Only” spends its entire 9-minute length revelling in the joys that a simple-spined, steadily evolving, quality tongue-and-groove doom song can supply. And who better than George Orwell to provide the LP’s morbid epitaph? His soundbite taken from the BBC Series “The Life Of Orwell” plays this intriguingly miserablist LP out – “If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face… forever”.

CARNIST
Unlearn
LP
What happens when a group of close friends who are bonded by a deep friendship, a highly socially-aware anger and an interwoven web of strong progressive beliefs decide to play loud, angry, abrasive and blown out hardcore punk as a vessel for the expression of radical and extreme vegan, pro-animal rights, feminist, anti-patriarchy, anti-religion, anti-misogyny, anti-homophobia, anti-transphobia and anti-speciesism ideals? Well, what happens is that in seconds you end up enveloped in a shit storm of rage that has seemingly no end, nor shows any kind of willingness to loosen it’s vicious, mauling attack on your sorry throat at any time, and that will stop in front of nothing in order to get its message across. And that’s what CARNIST‘s music is all about. Being pissed to no end about a multitude of social matters, and therefore being pissed in an exponential kind of way, in a million different directions. End up in this album’s path and the only choice you have to stay alive is to embrace its message, otherwise get the fuck out of its way or the damn thing will flatten you like a worm under a steam roller. Carnist are a highly political hardcore band haling from London, who feature members of Shels, Plague Mass, Unquiet Grave, Momentum, Light Bearer and Fall of Efrafa. Their music is a hardcore attack that has neither mercy nor pity, and aims to rip through your fucking face with the force of a tomahawk launched straight at your head from four fucking feet away. It will get its message through any thick head, whether you want it or not, because to them, this shit is REAL, and you can feel that in every note and scream of the album. “Carnism” is the “invisible belief system, or ideology, that conditions people to eat animals”. On the other hand the title of their debut album, which is called Unlearn and that you can stream herein, deals with the concept of “unlearning societal norms and cultural traits which are contrary to our nature – be that our attitude towards non human animals or indeed humans who do not fall in line with stifling, archaic and claustrophobic ideas of what it is to be human.” Needless to say, the music just fucking overboils with anger and destruction, and the whole work is just and endless stuffing of blistering and mauling shards of pissed off socially aware hardcore belligerence that second after second pours out of the speakers with the force of a full blown fucking riot. Dropdead, Trial, Propagandhi, Infest, Siege, Void, Crass, Conflict,Protestant, Slapshot etc. are all influences – so you get the idea – and the album also features Guest Vocals by Matthew and Lee (Light bearer), Jasmine (Neocons/No Babies), Anna (Amber) Michele (Gottesmorder), Oskar and Erik (Monachus), etc.

LP
Owsla is the first of three records; a trilogy, that will collectively be known as The Warren of Snares. These three records are Owsla, Elil and Inlé (Elil and Inlé are yet to be completed). In Watership Down, the Owsla are soldiers, guardians of the warren. To us Owsla is the front line of nature, the last defense against destructive human race. Owsla is the last stand. Elil means predator and this record will deal with the evils of predatory institutions; ignorant belief systems that sway the minds of a large proportion of humanity on this planet, blinding us as we pollute and rape the Earth. Inlé means death. This record will deal with existence; of life and death free of stagnated ideologies.

While their last full-length “2008? from that exact same year was recorded and produced in a studio, “Stadt in Flammen” is a complete DIY-production again, just like all their other previous releases. All in all this record is 100% November 13th – melodic and playful, but still powerful and angry!
