SCALPLE

World Gone Bad (LP)

Roachleg Records - 15 €

NYC punks Scalple make the big jump from demo tape to LP, with 8 tracks on this debut long player. We've got players from Urchin, Terrorist, Extended Hell, and I'm sure a few others all in the mix. The sound quality of World Gone Bad smokes the lo-fi demo, thanks to production from Emil Bognar Nasdor. The playing is also way tighter across this thing. Stylistically, I'm hearing a big Japanese influence - specifically from groups like Judgement and Nightmare. There's nothing wildly technical or groundbreaking about what Scalple is doing, but they truly crush it on this recording, bridging classic Japanese and US hardcore influences into a swirling, chaotic sonic frenzy.
