Seem to be picking up no end of picture discs at the
moment, and whilst many of them do their best to make the most of the format,
Japan’s Swarrrm have produced some of the most aesthetically repulsive
collage artwork this side of a Dystopia record. For shame Swarrrm, for shame.
Musically these guys are all over the place, playing panic-inducing grindcore
that blazes along with the best of them but doesn’t shy away from bending the
mould a little, experimenting with swathes of melodic riffs that wouldn’t be
out of place on an Envy release and some truly fucked up vocals that sound
less like a recital of verse than a series of emetic gasps and gargles
bubbling up the singer’s throat in unwilling homage to Mike Patton. It’s some
good stuff for sure, but whether they’re taking the grind game totally
seriously is anyone’s guess… picture 7"
