	ANXIETY	Pathetic!	This record has nine songs on it, and, to me, it sounds like late '80s British HC. I'd say Electro Hippies, Atavistic, that Terrorain demo 7" a bit, or Death Sentence from Australia. It's got a lot of echo on the vocals and really pessemistic lyrics with an appropriately raw recording. I hope people will be willing to take a chance on this. 	BOOK OF BLACK EARTH	The feast	Seattle's Book of Black Earth formed out of the smoldering ash of Teen Cthulhu in 2003. A demo was recorded and eventually they hooked up with Portland's Fall of the Bastards for a split album. The Feast is the first full length album for Book of Black Earth. Punishing blackened death metal (or deathened black metal if you prefer) is the order of the day. Subtle and unintrusive keyboard strains give an epic and vast quality to the memorably brutal songs on display. Vocalist TJ Cowgill's menacing guttaral delivery coupled with the assault of Joe Axeler's (Skarp) double bass-drum march propel the songs to sit comfortably alongside far more experienced and noteworthy bands in the genre. Songs like ''Riot in the jailhouse'', ''Everybody's on drugs today'', ''No company'' or ''War in my head'' are jerked out fast and with a cold hand, while keeping the rock hard. Taking POISON IDEA's speedy riffing and rocking attitude mixed with a fucked-up necessity to spill out some guts, the boys meet with CAREER SUICIDE and the BRUTAL KNIGHTS in a greasy public toilet. 	DSB	Useless system abuse	The long-awaited and latest offering from Japanese uber-punks D.S.B. The theme of this release is D.S.B.’s denied entry into the U.S.A. back in 2008. The band had to cancel its entire North American tour and is now banned from entering the U.S.A. Hence the title “Useless System Abuse.” D.S.B. channel their anger and disappointment into this very aggressive release. There is a more harmonized vocal approach on this release, which is a departure from their shouted deliveries on past releases. Not to worry you diehards, these harmonies will stick to your ribs! Included is a DVD with footage from D.S.B.’s 2008 European tour, followed by promo clip of the other bands on VEX Records.
